Having explored the mountains of Venezuela, paddled in the pacific northwest, climbed in the Tien Shan and Pamirs to the cliffs of Taiwan and not forgetting the awe inspiring adventures in the Alps.
I often remind myself that some of my best and most memorable adventures have been here in my back yard, whether it was exploring the Broads as youngster with my first kayak or later cutting my teeth on the gritstone of Peak district or learning to navigate on Knder Scout. Then being awe struck seeing Tryfan for the first time.

Adventure is a state of mind that will transform your daily life, it will make the mundane times bearable and keep you focused on what is important.
This can seem like a mountain to climb, but take heart. A poem by Walter D Wintle –
If you think you are beaten, you are
If you think you dare not, you don’t,
If you like to win, but you think you can’t
It is almost certain you won’t.
If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost
For out of the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow’s will
It’s all in the state of mind.
If you think you are outclassed, you are
You’ve got to think high to rise,
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But soon or late the man who wins
Is the person WHO THINKS THEY CAN!
I am not one to subscribe to any particular method, other than finding the one that works best for you, but please take the challenge to spend your time wisely and live a life worthwhile by making everyday an adventure starting with your own backyard
